One mum has come up with a unique way of making her daughter’s name stand out.
The woman from Australia appears to have written into a magazine about her baby girl’s unusually spelled moniker.
According to reports, a snippet of the publication was subsequently uploaded to Reddit by a user called SydneyTom.
The mum explained: “I’ve always loved the name Kaitlyn but hated how popular it was.
“So when I found out I was having a girl, my husband suggested we replace the ‘ait’ with the Roman numeral symbol for eight!
“Now our daughter is truly unique.”
So yes, they replaced the “ait” with “VIII” and let’s just say that some people on Reddit were quite honest about what they thought of the decision.
One commented: “I would offer all recipients of such names the opportunity to change their names for free when they turned 18.”
Another wrote: “What parent could seriously look at that and think, ‘Yeah, my child will go through life with that spelling on forms, ID, and a resume’?”
Many, like we did, questioned the authenticity of the claim… then again, stranger things have happened in the world!
