“This. Is. Me.”
Actress Tia Mowry has been praised for her honest post about her postpartum body, seven weeks after giving birth.
The Sister, Sister star and her husband, Cory Hardrict, welcomed their second early last month. The pair are already parents to their 6-year-old son, Cree Taylor.
And she explained that while “it had to take time for me to embrace my new body” after her first pregnancy, things changed during her second one.
Along a photo of herself in leggings and a white t-shirt, she wrote:
“7 weeks #postpartum. Some #pregnant women after giving birth no longer have a belly after 7 weeks.
“While others it may take a little longer. Me, I’m the latter. I remember after giving birth to Cree, my belly didn’t all of a sudden go flat.
“I did have a C-Section, (as well as with my second pregnancy) and I thought something was wrong with me.
“I had seen in magazines the many women on the beach a few weeks #postpartum in a two piece.
“To be honest, it had to take time for me to embrace my new body.
“With this second pregnancy, I now have embraced that fact that I’ve housed a human being. A miracle. A life.
“If it takes a while for me to get back to my normal self, than so be it. This.Is.Me. And I love me.”
And social media users were a huge fan of the actress’ transparency, with other mums sharing similar comments.
One person wrote:
“Keep pushing. I am here for her transparency, especially for other mothers – because some people think a snap back is what reality [is] and should happen. But it doesn’t always happen so easy.”
Someone else simply added:
“Real talk. Real Mom.”
Another mum commented:
“I am 9 weeks post partum (c-section) baby #2 and still have a belly. Thank you for putting out a REAL image of the journey of motherhood.”
