Mum’s ‘horrifying’ botched circumcision story is dividing opinions online

A mother’s “horrifying” botched circumcision story is dividing opinions online.

An unknown woman’s story of her son’s circumcision was shared online by Amy Wimberly-Kincaid, who argued that “body modifications” were not for children.

The baby in the story suffered a circumcision that “wasn’t completed or even done properly,” leaving him bleeding and permanently scarred.

The unknown woman wrote that when the procedure was over, she put her child in the carseat as normal.

Only when she returned home did she noticed that there was “blood coming out of his diaper, all over his legs.”

She wrote:

“The doctor entered in to find that a blood [vein] had been cut during circumcision. By this time he has went through three diapers of blood, and was running a 101 degree fever, and he was not very alert.

“The doctor tried five times before finally getting the blood [vein] to clot and quit bleeding, only then to notice the circumcision wasn’t even ‘complete’ or done properly.”

The mother went on to say that her son eventually received a ‘completed’ circumcision with stitches but that nobody was ever held accountable for the botched attempt.

She urged other parents to consider her son’s story when making a choice.

“Please consider this when making a decision. The diaper photo on the right above was after they got the bleeding almost to a stopping point.

“Daily we struggle with wonder about whether this will cause him insecurity, or if he will have trouble with erections later in life.”

“I didn’t read this whole post but this why I didn’t circumcise my children. I read a lot of horror stories,” said one person.

“This is why I’m terrified of getting the baby circumcised if it’s a boy,” said another.

Others, however, sympathised with the post but didn’t agree that circumcisions shouldn’t happen at all.

“Every parent has the right to choose,” said one person. “It is not right to condemn a procedure that has benefits and complications. Unless it’s your child it is NOT your concern!”

“I circumcised my son. He was in zero pain and didn’t even noticed. Plus he is healthy and happy as ever,” said another.
