Family day out: Mums go free at Explorium today – for Mother’s Day

Haven’t finalised your plans for Mother’s Day just yet?

How about a day out somewhere the entire family will enjoy – even your tech-obsessed and eye-rolling-prone tweens and teens?

And even better – if you go today, mums can go for absolutely free. Because, you know, Mother’s Day.

Explorium, Ireland’s National Science and Sport Centre, has opened its doors in Sandyford, Dublin 18, and it sounds like a day of absolute superb fun.

The people at Explorium have sourced over 250 science exhibits and activities from all over the world, where visitors will be educated, challenged and amazed through a truly interactive science experience. For young (and older) sports fanatics, there will be large porting areas that will encourage visitors to push their limits. For instance, you can try the daunting climbing challenges or explore the longest indoor caving system in the world.

Challenge your mind, test your agility and feed your curiosity with more than 300 eye-popping interactive Science and STEM experiences, make your own blockbuster in Movieworld, try to defy gravity in the amazing Gravity Rooms, get busy in Maker’s Lab, or check out a demo or documentary in the theatre – and when you’ve done all that, there is still more.

In the Junior section, there is a dedicated interactive fun zone, 50+ amazing science and sport activities, including a multi-sensory room, and an amazing aquarium.

Sounds like the perfect family day out? Yep, we think so too! Oh, and if you get hungry, treat yourself to healthy, delicious food at the Explorium restaurant and cafés with spectacular views of Dublin city. Try out the telescopes for a peek at your favourite landmark, and you won’t want to miss Ireland’s first ever robot servers.
