Listen Mom, you’ve gotta squeeze in some “me time.”
Once you become a Mum, finding a daily window of time to yourself can seem unthinkable. Bliss can be found every day – it just takes just a little bit of planning is all.
I’m here with the tips:
1. Early morning mom-ents
Getting up 15 minutes before the rest of the house so you can shower, get dressed and enjoy your caffeine in the peace will make all the difference. Get your thoughts and priorities for the day ahead in order during this little pocket of quiet time. Sigh.
2. Manicure “getaway”
Watching your little ones practising their musical instrument or doing their homework is a blessing and you could spend hours doing it. But, they need a mom who takes care of herself too. Go wild and get your nails done. Even though it only a half an hour, a tranquil spa setting buys you weekly therapy… and pretty nails.
3. Re-‘Kindle’ the romance
Nothing calms the mind like a good… book. You still have your mind and while you have it, fill it with romance, thrills and stories of handsome detectives. A book is a great distraction from reality when you feel your day has not gone to plan. To pass the 20 minutes when you are waiting at the school gates or biding your time after football practice when little John is grabbing his gear from the dressing rooms. Bliss.
4. Put it all on a page
If you find yourself losing your zen, grab a notebook. Life is easier when you have a pen and paper to hand. If there are fifty turned down pages of to-do lists, that’s OK. Writing down all the hectic thoughts filling your head will be release. Leather bound notebooks always rock that effortless, vintage chic so you’ll move up he ranks of cool. Win.
5. Schedule a break
It can be five minutes or fifteen. Whether it’s every morning at 11 am or in the evening when your little ones are tackling their homework, make it a habit to spend those precious few minutes by yourself for some well-deserved peace. Sounds like a different world, eh? Just make it happen.
6. Plan for everything
More a list at the start of each day of all the things you’d like to achieve. More often than not we begin to stress when we don’t have a plan or a basic idea of our goals. The key here is to make one list. Just one.
7. Plan mini dates with your other half
Whether it’s a mid-week dinner, a good weekend walk in the hills or simply a night in on the couch when the kids are in bed, carving out time with your half will make all the difference to your levels of sanity during a hectic week. Push this to the top of the list when you both have more energy (ahem).
8. Take a bath
Book in an hour to yourself every week to have a totally relaxing bath where you can sink into the bubbles and let the calm wash over you. A new set of bath bombs is not really enough, but its a good start. Who loves bubbles. Me.

9. Get active
There’s nothing like doing something active to help calm the mind. No matter how tired or stressed you’re feeling, drag yourself to the gym, or simply outside for a walk. You’ll find your mind racing less and less every step you take.
10. Keep your playlist up to date
The soothing power of music is incredible. Have your favourite tunes playing when you’re in the car, when you’re preparing lunch, waiting for your little ones after school. You’ll find yourself singing along and relaxing by the minute. Tinie Tempah all the way #justsaying
