Believe it or not but there are loads of “national days” that are celebrated around the world. Some of them are real. Others are fake. Many are brilliant and should be ACTUAL holidays.
For example, today is Stay Home Because You’re Well Day – can you imagine if that was a practical thing that we could do?
I would have probably had a lie-in before making a delicious, cooked breakfast and watching 100 episodes of Neighbours (yes, I still watch it religiously).
Anyway, it turns out there are quite a few made-up celebrations that we really wish were true…
Public Sleeping Day – February 28th
We actually thought this was a public holiday that people used to catch up on sleep but it’s actually when people can sleep in public. While we wouldn’t advise that, anything to do with sleep gets a thumbs up from us.
Be Nasty Day – March 8th
Because sometimes we just want to say something mean and not have to apologise… not something really mean but just a little bit mean.
No Housework Day – April 7th
While housework is a necessary evil (especially with little ones running around), we would like a day where we literally don’t have to lift a finger. Having someone else clean up, make dinner and put the kids to bed sounds like heaven.
Eat What You Want Day – May 11th
We’re assuming that one of the terms and conditions is that it also won’t affect your waistline… no, ah well, we want it to happen anyway!
Kiss-and-Make-Up Day – August 25th
Sure we could do with one of these every week (parenting is a tricky task that leads to a LOT of “heated discussions”), setting aside a day would mean that we actually get time with the other half to talk things out.
Increase Your Psychic Powers Day – October 31st
Who wouldn’t want to know what’s going to happen next or should we say what their child is going to do next?
National Chocolate Covered Anything Day – December 16th
The fact that this isn’t an actual holiday is a sin. We might just do this at home. By ourselves. Every day.
