Research Reveals Sugar Content In Popular Breakfast Biscuits

If you’re anything like us, you usually grab breakfast whilst running out the door and it consists of a cup of coffee along with a few breakfast biscuits.

However, new research has shown that these products may not be as healthy as they seem, especially when it comes to sugar content.

The Huffington Post reports that UK organisation Action on Sugar found that all of the ‘healthy’ breakfast biscuits contain at least one teaspoon of sugar.

Almost half of them (46 per cent) contain similar or higher amounts of sugar that a standard bowl of chocolate cereal Coco Pops (which contains 11g of sugar).

Experts believe that manufacturers ought to colour code the packaging to make consumers more aware of the nutritional content.

Then again, the report only focuses on one nutrient and does not take into consideration the other benefits of the biscuits. There are also a range of options for consumers to pick what suits their diet.
