If there’s one thing we know about in this country, it’s the art of making tea.
While you will find that people have different techniques for making a cuppa – some go for milk first, others pour it in after and then there are those who don’t take it at all – it seems there is one thing that we all should avoid.
It seems that squeezing the teabag is a major mistake as it releases the tannins in the tea leaves, giving your tea a bitter taste. (Leaving the teabag in too long can also make it bitter.)
According to the Live Strong website, tannins can also interfere with your digestive system by affecting the absorption of certain nutrients such as iron.
Tea in general is very good for you, however it might be worth the hassle of cleaning up a few stray drips rather than risk ruining your cuppa by squeezing the teabag!
