A super tasty treat

Homemade jam with a tasty twist. We’re totally obsessed with this moreish new chorizo jam recipe.

Packed full of spicy and sweet flavours, this is the perfect snack to pair with crackers and cheese when you’ve got friends over. Take a look at the delicious recipe in the video below.

Ingredients (makes 400ml):

  • 250g cooking chorizo, diced
  • 1 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 75g Siúcra rich dark brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 red chilli, seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons Spanish cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 heaped teaspoon instant espresso coffee powder
  • 125ml boiling water
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Recommended serving suggestion:

This chorizo jam tastes delicious in sandwiches and pasta dishes, our favourite is serving it with a cheeseboard.

Method:

    1. Heat a small pot over a medium heat. Add the chorizo and fry for 4-5 minutes. Turn down the heat to low. Remove from the pot with a slotted spoon leaving the oil behind for maximum flavour.
    2. Add the onion to the pot and cook for about 5 minutes on a low heat stirring frequently until soft but not coloured.
    3. Add the chorizo back in to the pot with all of the other ingredients.
    4. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
    5. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot and stir.
    6. Simmer on a low heat for about 25-30 minutes with the lid off until the sauce has reduced and thickened, stirring frequently.
    7. Turn off the heat and blend to your desired texture with a hand held blender.
    8. Pour the mixture into sterilised jars using a funnel if you have one.
    9. This jam will keep in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.
