3 Irish universities have jumped up the World University Rankings

The latest list of the World University Rankings is here and it shows a significant improvement for three Irish universities.

Trinity College, UCD and NUI Galway all jump to a better rank on the list, which is based on employability for 2018.

Trinity College saw the biggest improvement moving down 10 places to 88th in the world, while UCD moved eight places to 168 and NUI Galway improved by six places to 243.

A number of other universities in Ireland appear on the list but haven’t made as impressive a jump as Trinity, UCD or NUI Galway. University College Cork ranked 283 on the list, while DCU came in at 391 and UL came in at 501.

The top university on the list is Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by Standford University and Harvard University.

The ranking is compiled by QS Quacquarelli Symonds who evaluate 959 universities all over the world based on six key metrics; Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Citations per faculty, International Faculty Ratio and International Student Ratio.
