NEWS: Bad News for Netflix Fans

Irish Netflix users are about to be charged more for our House of Cards fix.

The streaming services is introducing a €2 per month price hike, bringing the cost of membership to €9.99 per month for its 200,000 users in Ireland.

The increase already applies to new users, who have been paying €9.99 since October, but longtime users have escaped the increase, remaining on the original €7.99 per month plan, until now.

“The prices taking effect were previously announced in May 2014 and follow a two-year period of holding prices to the previous level as a thank you to members.” Netflix said.

“Last October’s price increase for newer members included a one-year hold and will go into effect in October of this year.

“Beginning May, the price update is rolling out elsewhere based on member billing periods. Impacted members will be clearly notified by email and within the service, so that they have time to decide which plan/price point works best for them.”
