A six-year-old has died, and six others were injured, after a bouncing castle exploded

Awful news.

A six-year-old girl has died and six other children were injured when the bouncing castle they were on exploded.

According to The Sun, the bouncing castle was in the garden of a restaurant in Caldes de Malavella, in Girona, Spain on Sunday afternoon. The children were playing on it while their parents ate lunch.

The children, aged between 3 and 11, were flung into the air when the bouncing castle exploded. One girl was pronounced dead later that evening and two children are said to be in a serious condition.

The other four children escaped with minor injuries.

It’s not clear exactly what led to the explosion but it’s believed that too much air built up in the inflatable castle after one of the valves malfunctioned.
