It almost crashed the Wikipedia site but now Garfield creator Jim Davis has put an end to the great cartoon cat gender debate.
It stems back to 2004 when the writer described the mischevious tabby as “‘not really male or female or any particular race or nationality, young or old.”
When the person doing the interview went to update the Garfield character Wikipedia page with the information – a gender debate broke out that lasted over 60 hours and ended with Wikipedia locking the entire page.
But now the creator has come out to put paid to all the theories the issue: 71-year-old cartoonist Jim Davis shut it all down in one line to the Washington Post saying simply “Garfield is male”
